A Chistmas Quiz

Found this on another blog so I thought I'd give it a go...

1. What 5 items are on your Christmas wish list this year?

Um...I haven't really thought about it yet! I'm really just looking forward to a two week holiday! I have to be honest I don't really have a wish list, but I guess a little spending money for the boxing day sales would be nice!

2. What is your favorite handmade gift you have received?

My best friend in high school made me these cute little sea creatures out of shells...they were so clever and I still have them!

3. What handmade gift have you always wanted to tackle?

A photo/scrapbook album

4. What was the best Christmas gift you received as a child?

Our trampoline (it was a shared present for me and my brothers). I still remember the paper footprints leading from the tree to the back door...it was such an exciting present and we got so many years of enjoyment out of it!

5. What items are on your kid’s wish list this year?

Well seeing as though I don't have kids....nothing! haha!

6. What is your favorite holiday food?

Hmm....where do I start?! Plum pudding, trifle, nuts and bolts, fruit mince pies, candy canes...the list goes on!

7. What will you be hand-crafting for the holidays?

Cards for a start...maybe some more ornaments for the tree too!

8. What is your favorite holiday movie?

I did enjoy Polar Express. And Home Alone was always good!

9. Favorite holiday song?

Joy to the World and O Holy night....couldn't narrow it down to just one! I love Christmas carols!

10. Favorite holiday pastime?

Checking out the Christmas lights and going to Carols services...so much fun!

some photos from...

...my new camera!

Woohoo it has finally arrived! Ok well it actually arrived a week ago but I had a busy weekend last weekend and have consequently been so tired this week that I haven't had a chance to blog about it! But if you have me added on facebook you probably already know by now!

So far I've only really played with the auto settings cos I haven't had a chance to read the manual (well other than to figure out how to get it going). But I must say I am loving it even on the auto settings...the quality is unbelieveable! Love the hope image stabiliser too...good for people like me who have a habit of taking blurry photos!

Ok well here's a couple of shares...

I also managed to scrap a couple of layouts recently that haven't made there way on here yet. I'm very proud of myself for actually including some journalling on these...something I really suck at! I'm not a mushy person at all so my journalling is pretty straightforward just telling things how they are in fact form mostly. Who knows maybe one day I will shock you all! But for now I'll keep it simple!

Finally...the reason I had such a busy weekend last weekend is that my friend is getting married soon...lucky girl! Anyway the hens day/night was last weekend and we got these awesome bar shots done at Dreamworld! And some crazy ride photos too! Can't wait to scrap these!

So that's about it for now. Hope you are all well and feel free to leave comments...I love reading them! Thanks for looking!

Just a couple of layouts

I can't believe it's been a month since I last blogged. It truly doesn't seem that long! Just thought I'd share a couple of layouts I made a few weeks ago.

I'm not entirely happy with the second one but it was fun to experiment with some different arty techniques like using masking fluid and gel medium transfers.

I also hope to buy this baby soon (but with a different lense). So excited - I can't wait!
Anyway that's pretty much it for now. I don't think I'll be getting much scrapping done for awhile as my next few weekends are pretty busy. But I guess you never know!

Some more scrapping

I'm so proud of myself I've managed to do two more layouts lol! Without further ado here they are:

I'm trying to use more of the scrapping stuff I already have and avoid buying more at the moment cos I definitely don't need any more and I'm trying to save money. Loving the glimmermist still! Trying to scrap some older photos too!

Below is a photo of me before I went out to a black tie ball with some people from my church. More photos are on facebook but I thought I'd just share ones with me in them here.

And finally a few photos of some roses my Mum got from my Aunty's garden. The first two photos are actually the same photos just edited differently (only edited using Picassa...I was too lazy to bother with photoshop this time lol!)

Thanks for looking, hope you are all doing well!

long time no post

Yes I know I'm not doing too well with the whole blogging thing this year am I? I just can't believe how busy life has gotten. I think when I was back at uni I used to update my blog when I was home during the day but now working full time I just find myself so tired at night and I don't usually feel like blogging or even scrapping.

Work is going well at the moment...it has been very busy lately as we just ran our major event of the year but hopefully now it will start to die down a bit which will be good! I'm having a long weekend in October which I am really looking forward to!

On the scrapping front absolutely nothing has happened since my last update. My scrap desk is buried under a pile of junk which is a bit sad! I hope to clean it off a bit this weekend but already have a few other plans lined up for tomorrow so I'm not sure this is going to happen! I just need a better storage system under the desk but not really sure what yet. I'm thinking maybe some sort of drawers but whatever I decide it has to be cheap!

One thing I have been to since my last update is Riverfire! These are the best fireworks Brisbane has all year (even better than new years)! We managed to score ourselves a fantastic position right in front of the Storey Bridge so I managed to capture some great photos which I was very excited about! Sadly though it was the last year for the F1-11 dump and burns. I didn't get any photos of that this year but I did get a video which is on my facebook if anyone is looking for it.

And finally I just thought I'd share a couple of links my fellow scrappers might enjoy!

That is all! Thanks for reading!

Scrapping update

Thought it was about time I posted these layouts I created a few weeks ago.

haha i'm not really that rich! This was a once-off opportunity! Don't think i'll ever get to hold that much cash again anytime soon!

I tried out a photo transfer technique on this one. I printed the photo in black and white using our laser printer and then stuck a piece of clear contact on top (hence the crinkles). I then soaked off the paper and the image was left on the contact.

I'm not exactly sure who to credit for the photos in the above layout - I know it was one of the ScrapOfFaith girls! I just cannot remember who took the photos! And it is based on this sketch which I think came from So Sketchy.

This layout is totally inspired by Steph Caskey-Devlin. She had a tutorial on making those tissue paper flowers in the last issue of Creating Keepsakes. And the transparency feathers were made by printing Danielle Thompson's digital feathers onto a transparency.

I haven't done much scrapping lately (0ther than the above layouts) although I did make a card for Dad for Father's Day. I've been trying to do a huge spring clean of my bedroom and purge heaps of stuff! So far I've completed clothes and shoes, under the bed and some of the craft drawers in my cupboard. Still left to tackle is my scrapping desk, bookshelf, desk, the rest of the cupboard. Once that's all complete I'll need to sort out all of the stuff lying around on the floor and put it all into a new home.

I'm thinking I might buy myself a new doona cover once I've finished and give my room a bit of a makeover. Will keep you posted!

Just thought I'd finish with a photo of a nice flower I found in our backyard - don't you just love spring!
